Dreams all made real...
OHMAGAAD! Totally going to the Fever Ray gig tonight in Brixton. Im so excited I think I could probably be sick all over my laptop. gaaaahhhhhhh!!!
The image above comes direct from the brand new Dazed Digital site, which is the most insane thing ever, its so good! I mean it has always been consistant with great articles and the such like anyways, but now it feels like it ties in a lot more with the magazine, and actually is probably the most succesful magazine style website, I would say...
Anyway what makes it even more great is THIS cool Fever Ray interview and mix tape that was featured as part of the sites new launch. I love all the images and it got me even more super excited for tonights show. Oh its going to be so fucking good I can just TELL!!!

I like the way animals hang out in the trash and parking lots.
By now you've probably all seen the new Proenza Schouler film by Harmony Korine, coz its pretty much all over the place, and for good reason - I HEART IT. I am such a sucker for anything even resembling lo-fi cut and paste creations, and I just love the aesthetic feeling the video portrays. I think it really compliments the clothes and Jack and Lazrio were really clever and cool to do it for this season. I also love the narration... Ive used narration a bit like this in my own work when making a film a year or so ago, and its something Im definately going to use again. Seeing this has just inspired me further, ya know.
As it goes, Ive seen both positive and negative reviews of it. It seems majorly that all the fashion blogs dig it, but alot of other people are all 'Same old HK shit'. I guess for me I cant (and dont like to) compare it to any of his other films since Ive only seen Kids - which by the way I hate. Anyway for me its like this: if I like something I like it and I dont really care about much else.
Seeing it also reminded me of an interview I read months ago (I think in LULA?) with Rachel Korine (his wife yo) about his then upcoming film TRASH HUMPERS which looks ACTUALLY INSANE!!! I just saw that its already pretty much been and gone in terms of screenings - a few at the end of september in London - but the good news is you can buy it very soon on DVD and VHS!! amazing.
I literally actually have no idea what its about or anything, Im thinking its very much in keeping with the sort of narrative-less stories (oxymoronic?) he has made before. Once again it has that lofi look of being filmed on an old video camera (maybe it was? would be cool), which gives it such a creepy feel... or rather I should say it gives it an EVEN MORE creepy feel. seriously just watch the trailer for reals because its just one of those things. Im rather looking forward to seeing it even though I think I will probably freak out. In the best way of course.
I dont even know...

Horses in my dreams
So the other day me and Kieran went to see the Black Angels (at the borderline, probs our favourite venue in LDN?) which was total awesomeness, and as an extra special treat the support was DARK HORSES who I now totally heart.
Is this not totally the nicest cape youve ever seen? She wore it on thursday and I died. It also said DARK HORSES on the back which made me like it even more.
Anyway, to make things even better, we were also lucky enough to be given one of their zines that I guess they made when they toured with BRMC (evidentally we should have seen them THEN too but coz of volcanic ash the band was really late so they didnt have any support - boo! although it did mean that THIS happened, which was nice).
So heres some pages from it... I LOVE PAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Whos got the LOVE?
Just got my little mits on the new LOVE, fresh off the press (I literally took it from the trolley as they were unloading it in Liverpool st WHSmiths...).
I got the Agyness cover just because its AWESOME but it was a really tough decision and I would like to say to all my favourite magaziners out there: PLEASE STOP WITH THE MULTIPLE COVER SITUATIONS!!! I love them alot but its just really hard on my collecting because I want them ALL which I could never afford. YEAH!
I guess I'll review it when Im back in Reading and can get some pictures etc etc. So far Im sort of unsure about alot of it, but then again I always find with LOVE that theres something just NOT QUITE RIGHT... do you know what I mean? like for one thing how many times did they print the word 'tits'? ...EDGY....

Knitted Prawn Cocktail... yumz.
Ive been working on various little kitted projects and other crafty things with the intention of selling them to raise money for my degree show next year. I think these prawns are just hilarious... I just hope others see it too and buy this junk from me.

Ga ga ga go go go go got to Runaway
So last week I watched the new Runaways film.
I guess there was severals reasons why I did and why I didn't want to watch it. Reasons against include things like me really not liking Kristen Stewart, wondering how they could successfully portray the epicness of Joan Jett and the Runaways and totally convey how revolutionary (Can I say that? whatev) they were, and also the amount of times Micheal K had blasted it on Dlisted, I was not exactly swayed.
But then again any film depicting this era espeically one on girl bands like the runaways, pretty much appeals to me straight away regardless. I was also really curious to see how Dakota Fanning would live up to such a role, especially as this really is her crossover film out of the whole child actor thing. Plus while clips were being posted on dlisted most of the time I couldnt watch them because they were only viewable in the US, so really I didnt know what to expect.
Well anyway, I watched it, and this is what I thought.
First of all I really enjoyed the direction and the cinematography was just how I would have liked to have seen it. Soft light at all the right moments, while dark and gritty at others with sudden flashes of epilepsy to bring energy just when it was needed. I think Floria Sigismondi really paid attention to detail when it comes to how she wanted the audience to see what was happening.
I think Dakota and Kristen as the leads was perfect casting and I think both did relaly great performances. I think I even like K-Stew a bit now? I think actually its films like this why she is an actor and why she doesnt have to smile all the time and why she should never have been in Twilight. I think I would like both her and the twilight films so much more if she'd never been in them.
In terms of the story, there were definately moments where I lost interest in the characters, mainly towards the end, and I do think the end was a bit blurry actually. I dont exactly want to give much away in terms of the film (but since its based on real events its not like im giving away a great plot twist, know what I mean) but the way it jumped from Cherie tanked up in the supermarket to cleaned up working in the cake shop was sort of a big leap and not exactly explained. I guess in a way I understand though - the film was sort of the perfect not-too-long length and if they'd gone into any more great detail on those bits then it would have made it too long, ya know. Plus I think maybe if you wanna know the details you should read Cherie Currie's book Neon Angel on which the film was based - I fully intend to.
So I think overall I really enjoyed it just for what it was superficially as a film. Im not saying it was totally amazing and award winning, but I loved the story and the acting and I wasnt bored or anything so that makes it good in my books.
